Dress Your Palette

Affiliate Disclosure and Ranking Principles

Dress Your Palette will earn money from affiliate links once its partner programs are approved. Commissions never decide which products you see or in what order.

Affiliate links

Some links to shops are affiliate links. If you follow one and buy something, the shop may pay us a commission, directly or through an affiliate network such as Awin, impact.com, CJ or Rakuten Advertising. You pay the same price either way.

Our applications to these networks are in progress. Until they are approved, the site shows no shop products and earns no commissions. This page describes how links will work once they are live.

Links to professionals who offer color or Kibbe analyses may also earn a referral commission. The same rules apply to them.

How paid links are marked

Every link that can earn a commission is marked “Paid link” right next to it, wherever it appears: on product cards, in lists and in the professionals section. This page is linked from the foot of every page.

We follow the US Federal Trade Commission’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), which require a clear disclosure of any material connection between us and the shops we link to.

Ranking principles

What you see is decided by fit alone:

  • Inclusion: a product is listed when its measured color passes the check for your color season and its lines pass the check for your Kibbe type, or only one of them if you chose only one.
  • Order: products are ordered by how well their measured color sits in your palette, mixing color families so that one shade doesn’t fill the list. Neutrals that suit you less closely come after them.
  • Near misses are shown on their own, below the fits, with the reason they missed.
  • Lists are never padded with weak matches. If few pieces suit you this season, the list is short.
  • Products whose color can’t be measured reliably are left out.
  • When you sort by price, your sort replaces ours.

What never affects inclusion or order:

  • the commission rate, or whether a link earns one at all
  • which affiliate network a shop uses
  • any payment, free product or other benefit from a shop or brand; we don’t sell placements, and there are no sponsored results

One limit is honest to name: the catalog can only hold products from shops whose product feeds we can use, which in practice means shops with affiliate programs. That shapes which shops appear. Within the catalog, the order is decided by fit.

Independence

We don’t accept payment or free products in return for picks or editorial content. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on the piece itself. Questions: contact.
